AI is bad, except maybe it’s not, maybe AI will help you solve the murder of your wife before it executes you for the murder of its wife… wtf is Mercy saying, anyway? Maybe it’s saying if you put your hero in a chair for 100 minutes your movie will feel inert. Especially if Chris Pratt is that hero? Hard to say, but we do our best to untangle one of the silliest flops of the year.

Ah, here he comes, that son of a gun, that cat, that Garfield, that gigantic thing — except… There’s something different about him. It’s weird. He just doesn’t seem very… Garfield-y? Anyway, in honor of the birthday of one of our great Americans, Garfield the cat, and also maybe one other guy, we take on 2024’s The Garfield Movie.

What’s the deal with Netflix’s The Electric State? Well, for one thing we know that IT’S ELECTRIC… boogie woogie woogie. But also, it’s a movie arguing for the primacy of real-life connection that feels utterly algorithmically designed, what with its Chris Pratts and Millies Bobby Brown and cute robot pals, and it cost… $320 million?? That can’t be right. There must be a smudge on these accounting sheets. Anyway, we talk about it!

Is this the most popular, highest-grossing movie we’ve ever done? Possibly! We’re too lazy to put in the legwork to check. Why don’t YOU do it, for a school project about statistics or economics or some shit. Anyway, the point is, we used the “or CRITICAL flop” loophole (42 on Metacritc) so we could watch The Super Mario Bros. Movie. Don’t at us. Or do, whatever, we’re not your dad.
